We’re excited to see the final creations!

Year 10 has been exploring the artist Alex Demer and her unique use of a range of materials in the backgrounds of her paintings. She incorporates items such as Lego and jigsaw pieces. Alex Demer is a contemporary artist active on Instagram, and her works are featured in calendars, greeting cards, and jigsaw puzzles. This approach demonstrates to our students how they can apply their artwork in a professional context.
We will use the textures and ideas from her backgrounds to enhance our own paintings.  A couple of teachers’ favourites include Lilly’s “Octopus,” where Lilly has skilfully captured the shape and colour, and Grace’s “Hummingbird,” which is painted on a circle. Grace has done an excellent job capturing the texture of the bird’s wings.
