Year 9 has been working on an exciting new textiles fashion project. Initially, they focused on surface pattern design, creating unique patterns using various embroidery stitches on embroidery rings.
This process began with painting white fabric using watercolour paints, followed by drawing with stitches such as running stitch, chain stitch, and French knots.
Next, students crafted three-dimensional figures using tin foil and wire, which they then covered with recycled book paper. They photocopied their surface patterns to design clothing for their 3D figures, with the theme being wedding attire inspired by Tim Burton’s “Corpse Bride.” I think you will agree that Year 9 has done an impressive job! It’s incredible what you can create with wire and tin foil! The figures and embroideries are showcased in the art corridor, so feel free to check them out in person.
