On Tuesday, March 18th, our Year 7 students had a special visit from Mitch Johnson, the author of the book “Kick.” This book is an essential part of the transition to Stanley High School, and each Year 7 student received a copy during their transition day last year. We also incorporate the story into our curriculum at the beginning of Year 7. The students were thrilled to meet Mr. Johnson and enjoyed his talk about the book, during which they played games and asked questions. A small group of students participated in a creative writing workshop and enjoyed sharing their ideas with him. One of the day’s highlights was when students brought in copies of “Kick” from the transition day to have them signed by the author. Mr. Johnson was genuinely impressed by our students and expressed his eagerness to return next year.
