Safeguarding In School
Stanley High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our children. All adults visiting or working on site at Stanley have a part to play in ensuring we keep our children and each other safe.
To protect children at Stanley High, we will:
- Create an atmosphere where all children feel safe, valued and listened to
- Recognise signs and symptoms of abuse in all forms
- Act quickly and effectively when concerns around the welfare of our children are raised
All adults working with our children will know that:
- They have a duty of care to safeguard all children whilst on site at Stanley High School
- Disclosures of abuse can happen at any time and to anyone in school
- They should immediately report any concerns around the welfare of a child
- Their role is not to investigate any concerns raised
Safeguarding is EVERYONE’s responsibility, so you should be able to speak to any Stanley staff member. However, there are some members of staff with specific responsibilities:
Designated Safeguarding Lead
Mrs Fraser-Orr
Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (If Mrs E Fraser-Orr is not available)

What should I do if I am worried about something or someone?
Don’t bottle it up! Talk to a member of staff about your concerns. Tell them in your own words why you or another student needs help. They will tell you that they may need to pass the information on to Mrs Fraser-Orr (Designated Safeguarding Lead).
Or
Email: enquiries@stanleyhigh.co.uk (please mark the email as safeguarding)
Talk directly to Mrs Fraser-Orr or the Pastoral Team.
The staff member will listen to you, and together you will discuss the problem and the action that may be taken to support you.
What will happen if I speak to a member of staff?
When a student tells a member of staff something of concern, the member of staff will:
- Listen to what the student has to say
- Accept what the student says and make sure he/she knows that we take it seriously
- Reassure the student that he/she did the right thing in sharing the information
- Explain to the student what we will do next to offer support
- Record what has been said and inform Mrs Fraser-Orr
