At Stanley High School, we are committed to delivering a high-quality careers education programme that supports every student as an individual. From Year 7 through Year 11, our students benefit from sustained, personalised guidance and strong partnerships with employers, education providers, and training organisations. Our aim is to empower students to make informed decisions, develop essential employability skills, and transition confidently into further education, training, or employment.
Commitment
We deliver a structured and progressive CEIAG programme in collaboration with a Level 6 qualified independent careers adviser. Our provision is aligned with the Gatsby Benchmarks, ensuring students receive impartial, timely, and relevant support throughout their school journey.
Objectives
• Embed a whole-school culture of career development from Year 7 onwards.
• Provide personalised, impartial guidance tailored to each student’s strengths, interests, and aspirations.
• Strengthen employer and provider engagement to offer meaningful encounters with the world of work.
• Equip students with the knowledge, skills, and resilience required for lifelong success and well-being.
Implementation
Our CEIAG programme is embedded across the curriculum and delivered through assemblies, form-time activities, and targeted interventions. All students receive at least one individual careers guidance interview by the end of Key Stage 4. We provide ongoing access to careers information for students and parents/carers, particularly during key transition points such as GCSE options. We work closely with local FE, HE, and training providers to deliver a diverse range of activities, including work experience, college taster days, and employer-led events. Curriculum-linked activities ensure students understand the relevance of their learning to future career pathways.
Impact
The effectiveness of our careers programme is evaluated using the Compass+ tool, aligned with the eight Gatsby Benchmarks. We monitor student destinations data and track post-16 choices to ensure informed decision-making. Feedback from students, staff, parents, employers, and providers informs continuous improvement. This robust evaluation framework ensures that our CEIAG provision remains responsive, inclusive, and impactful.

Information for Parents
Please encourage your child to visit the school’s careers room to research available careers. The room is open Monday and Tuesday during break and lunch. It is located on the corridor than runs past room 33 by Mr Lock’s office.
This room provides pupils with lots of useful information about careers. They can also request an appointment with the school’s independent careers adviser. All pupils will begin group meetings during year 9 and 1-2-1 meetings during years 10 and 11.
However, if a pupil wishes to receive an appointment earlier, please ask them to speak to their form tutor, who can arrange this with our career’s adviser. Our social media channels and newsletter include updates on career events and opportunities at the school.
