What a fabulous and inspirational morning spent with the fantastic Tim Quinn! Tim has worked as an editor and Head of Special Projects at Marvel Comics. Mrs. Ward selected a group of students from years 7, 8, and 9 to represent the school, and they did not disappoint. She felt blessed by how prepared everyone was for the workshop; some students had researched Tim, produced drawings in advance, and brought their sketchbooks. They truly honoured the school.
Tim spoke with genuine passion about his journey as an illustrator, sharing stories from his very first drawings to his beautifully detailed comic illustrations. He then guided the students in creating a series of sketches and drawings.
Tim expressed that he felt real joy from working with the students. The workshop was designed to prepare them for a competition called “Captain Southport.” Students are invited to submit an A4 drawing of a superhero that represents themselves. The tagline for the competition is “Be kind, be kind, be kind.”
All submissions need to be given to Mrs. Ward before the end of the term. The artwork will be displayed in Cambridge Arcade, and the winning design will be developed by Marvel comic illustrators to become ‘Captain Southport.’
