Our More Able students from year 9, took part in a STEM day at Liverpool John Moore’s University on Wednesday 6th July. Students were placed into mixed-school teams of four and were challenged to undertake three STEM activities run by university students.
The various exciting challenges throughout the day include, programming a mobile Lego Mindstorms EV3 root to undertake specific tasks, creating EFIT-V images using police software, students also learnt how to perform CPR and other lifesaving skills.
Tom and Luk, won 1st Prize in the Merseyside Science and Technology challenge for the EFIT-V task, they were awarded a shield and certificate from the Deputy Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Roz Gladdon.
Our students undertook each challenge with enthusiasm and enjoyed the experience which has hopefully provided them with an opportunity to look at potential careers in the STEM subjects.
