The Governing Body

The Governing Body at Stanley High School has a range of duties and powers and a general responsibility for the conduct of School with a view to promoting high standards of educational achievement. Its responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Setting targets for pupil achievement
  • Managing the School’s finances
  • Making sure the curriculum is balanced and broadly based
  • Appointing staff
  • Reviewing staff performance and pay

The Governors work closely with the Headteacher and are also accountable to parents and the wider community for the performance of the School.

The Governing Body at Stanley High School comprises of:

  • Two parent governors
  • One local authority governor
  • One staff governor
  • One Headteacher governor
  • Ten Co-opted governors

The full Governing Body meets once a term but there are a number of smaller committees which either meet at least once a term or as and when required:

  • Finance and Personnel Committee
  • School Improvement Committee
  • Pay Committee
  • Disciplinary & Grievance Committee
  • Staffing Committee
  • Complaints Committee

The Chair of the Governing Body is:

  • Ms R Williams

The Clerk to the Governors is:

  • Mrs E Avery
