Year 7 students are holding a Christmas appeal in aid of the Foodbank. Please could you send donations into school with your child for them to leave with their form tutor.
As we have done previously, some Year 7 students will have the opportunity to visit the foodbank to see how the allocation of donated food is stored and packed ready to be given out to those in need.
Thank you to all those that have already made a donation, your support is greatly appreciated by both the school and the foodbank. Should you wish to donate and if you do not have a student in Year 7, please ask your child to give the donation to Mrs Urquhart.
Christmas Jumper Day
We will be holding our Christmas Jumper day on Wednesday 12th December to coincide with our Christmas Fayre. Students will be allowed to wear a Christmas themed jumper/top and in return they will be asked to donate a minimum of £1 to charity. They must have full school uniform on underneath their jumper.
We are holding our Christmas Fayre on Wednesday 12th December from 2pm to 6pm. There will be a number of stalls and entertainment throughout and some of our Year 9 students will be raising money for charity through the enterprise project as they did last year.
We would be delighted if you could send any items into school for the tombola stall as this was a big fundraiser last year, and we would love to match or beat the total that was raised. Students in Year 9 will choose their individual charities that will benefit from the enrichment programme and all other funds raised will go into school funds.
Students continue to rehearse for the Christmas Showcase which takes place on Tuesday 18th December. This year we have nearly 40 students involved in Drama, Dance and Music, creating a Performing Arts Showcase for parents/carers, grandparents and the local community. The students have been fantastic in rehearsal and are all excited for the final show!
Mr N Moore
We will be having our Christmas Lunch in the canteen on Wednesday 12th December. It will be a traditional lunch with dessert for the price of £2.30.
Word of the week
As you may know, we have a word of the week that we are encouraging students to use and this is being displayed in classrooms and around school. The word for this week was ‘decipher ’ and we hope that students had plenty of opportunities to use this. The word for week commencing 3rd December will be ‘loquacious’.
Maths and English Challenge
There were no winners of the English Challenge from the last fortnight and the winner of the Maths Challenge was Evie Drittler in Year 7; well done Evie.
The next challenge can be found on the link below, students have until Thursday lunch time to enter. Answers for all the challenges can also be found at the link. https://stanleyhigh.co.uk/fortnightly-challenges/
Mrs Ward’s creative work of the week is awarded to Ethan in Year 7 for his homework based on Joel Penkman.
The homework only required to bring in 3 colour images and Ethan has produced an A3 research page in the artist and has collected lots of interesting facts. Well done Ethan.
Year 9 Sports Leaders were in action this week as they organised and delivered a Boccia competition for the local Primary Schools. Twelve teams took part in the event and the feedback from parents and students was excellent. The competition was aimed at students with a special education need or who were disengaged from PE and School Sport. Our Sports Leaders were exceptional in the way they managed the event ensuring that everyone had a positive experience.
This week it was the turn of the Year 9 Basketball team to attend Edge Hill University for the Sefton Basketball Championships. Stanley played Sacred Heart, Maricourt and Chesterfield and were victorious in all of their games. Well done to all the Year 9 boys who were involved.
