Year 9 Apprentice visit
On Monday 18th June 106 Year 9 students went to an Apprenticeship Fayre in Liverpool, where they were able to find out about courses, qualifications and job opportunities that will be available to them when they leave Stanley.
The students had done some preparation with their tutors before attending the event and the staff accompanying the group were very impressed with how well they interacted with the exhibitors and got involved with the interactive activities on offer.
Before returning to Southport, students had the opportunity to have a look around the Maritime Museum at the Albert Dock.
KGV and Runshaw College visits
Year 10 have been out on two trips to colleges this week. On Tuesday, students went to KGV and on Wednesday students went to Runshaw, on both days they took part in a number of taster sessions.
Students had a thoroughly enjoyable experience of college life on both days.
Thank you to all the staff who supported the students on the days.
Our final college visit is on Monday 4th July when students will be visiting Southport College.

Mrs Ward’s Creative work of the week goes to Abi Holman in Year 10 for her final piece for her ‘Colours in Nature ‘coursework project. Students are given the brief to design a piece of artwork to go in The Natural History Museum in London.
Abbie has studied butterflies by producing drawings and paintings, of these majestic creatures, she has researched fashion designers and planned her own final piece idea. Abbie’s dress is made from lots of butterflies cut out of colour photocopies of one of her paintings. Excellent work Abbie – well done.
Year 7 Art and Technology
This week Art and Technology classes had the opportunity to view the Year 11 final pieces in the new library following on from the exhibition held last week.
We hope that some inspiration was gained and the students thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Each fortnight during form time there will a specific spelling and grammar focus for the students. This information is also available online for parents/carers and students should they wish to work on it at home. Please follow the link below to see the fortnightly focus for this half term.
Our U12 and U13 teams played Archbishop Temple and Liverpool College respectively this week. Our U12 team played in an amazing match losing by a single run on the very last ball of the game. This is the first defeat for our Year 7 team in what has been a great season and we give thanks to the Fleetwood Hesketh and the coaching we have received from All Stars who are linked to England Cricket.
The U13 team were also exceptional gaining a win against Liverpool College. Special mention has to go to Bellis Shukla who batted from the first ball to the last in both the U12 and U13 games scoring over 100 runs in both games. Bellis also scored 58 not out and took three wickets in an exceptional individual performance. Well done to the all the Year 7’s who have played in the U13 team this year.
Year 9 and 10 Sports Leaders have been in action this week with a number of events.
The Year 10 students were involved in a primary athletics competition, which was hosted at Stanley and the Year 9 students supported the Larkfield Sports Day in an all day event. Once again their attitude throughout was exceptional and positive comments were made from teachers and parents who attended.
Tonight students will be taking part in the The Wally Cain Dance Competition at Southport Convention Centre on Friday evening. Many hours of rehearsals have been given to this performance and we wish the boys and girls the best of luck.
- Monday 25th – Division 1 Sefton Athletics at Robin Park
