‘Go Orange’ Love my Community Day
On the Friday before half term we held a ‘Love my Community Day’ jointly with the Southport Learning Partnership. We are delighted to say we raised £173.40 and I am sure that that money combined with the other schools within the partnership will be gratefully received by Muscular Dystrophy UK.
Our next fundraising event will be on Friday 15th March for Comic Relief and in memory of Adam Seaton we will be donating half of the money raised to the Missing Persons Charity in liaison with the family. The theme will be to wear Black and Purple as well as a number of other events including a Cake sale.
We are very proud as a school to support so many varied charities throughout the school year and if you have a charity that is personal to you we would love to know what, if anything we can do to support it.
Jasmin Stevens is the first student in Year 8 to achieve the silver merit badge, this is a fantastic achievement and is truly well-deserved. Well over half of Year 8 now also have their bronze badges which is also a superb achievement. Well done Year 8.
Year 8 Options
Monday 4th March is the deadline for students to return their option forms, although I am delighted with the response so far. Should your child still have any questions, please encourage them to speak with their Form Tutor or Year Leader.

Year 10 Apprenticeship Fair
A number of Year 10 students will be visiting Southport College on Wednesday to attend and apprenticeship fair, hopefully students will ask lots of questions to give them a better understanding of what apprentices are available to them. The college is also open from 5-8pm should they have further questions, or you would like to accompany them for further information.
Year 11 students have been sitting their Mock Exams this week and these will continue into week commencing 4th March. Students have been exceptional in their behaviour and attitude towards the exams and hopefully their results will show the improvement required from the last round in November. The word for week commencing 4th March will be ‘tangible’.

Mrs Ward’ s creative work of the week goes to Year 11 students. Despite the fact they are involved with their mock exams this week students have managed to produce excellent research boards for their art exam research.
Well done year 11 keep up the good work.
This week we took 2 teams of Year 7 and 8 to the Sefton Schools Football Tournament at Goals Centre in Liverpool. The format was 7 aside and our girls played 11 matches overall only conceding 1 goal throughout the whole tournament. Highlights included comprehensive victories over teams from Greenbank High, Range High, Formby High, Christ the King High, Meols Cop High and Scarisbrick Hall with our B team ending up victorious in the girl’s tournament.
This has meant that in the 5 tournaments our girls have participated in this year they have won 3 and been runner up in 2 which is both unbelievably consistent but also extremely impressive. Well done to all the students who have participated during the year and no pressure on our Year 9/10 team who have their final tournament next week!
Year 8 Football
This week our Year 8 football team started their next block of fixtures with a home game against Meols Cop High. As this was a friendly game this was an opportunity to promote a number of students from the B team to play along with other students who have previously not represented the school. The students who participated showed great enthusiasm and determination and created many chances to score before losing a hard fought game 3-0. Well done to all our students who played.
Next week Stanley High will be hosting 22 secondary schools from across Sefton as we hold the third and final Sefton Cross Country race. Previous races have been held at Birkdale Common and Merchant Taylors and our students have had success in both team and individual races.
Our Year 7, 8 and 9 students will be competing over distances ranging from 2400 to 3200 and if Stanley continue the success of the previous 2 races then I am sure there will be more individual and team success. Any students who wish to be involved need to see a member of the PE team next week.
