On Monday 17th September, we will be holding our Open Evening for primary students and parents/carers to visit us as they make their decision on which High School to attend. The school will be open from 6pm to 8pm with a talk from myself taking place at 6.15pm in the Main Hall. If you have a Year 6/5 primary student, please feel free to visit us and take a tour around the classrooms where they will be able to experience what it will be like at our school and see what exciting topics they will have the chance to study should they choose to come to our school.
As many students will be helping on the evening and to enable time to prepare for the evening, school will finish at 2pm. Should your child wish to catch to school bus at 3pm please let the school know and we will make appropriate arrangements.
Should you not be able to attend on Monday evening we have a number of open mornings and afternoons as listed below.
This week we have seen a number of our local primary schools including; Churchtown, St John Crossens, Marshside, Kew Woods, Norwood and St Patricks visit Stanley for a curriculum visit. The year 6 pupils have taken part in a number of subjects including; Science, Design Technology, Food Technology, Art, PE, Languages, History, English and Maths.
Year 9 and 10 students have supported the delivery and organisation of the days along with staff and
I would like to thank them for the fantastic work they do with the primaries, the feedback from visiting students and teachers has been excellent.
Next week both Linaker and Larkfield Primary schools will be visiting us.

Macmillan Coffee Morning
We will be holding our annual Macmillan coffee morning on Friday 28th September and we hope that the fantastic efforts that both students and staff gave last year will be even better this year in our bid to raise money for what is a very worthwhile cause.
We invite parent/carers and grandparents to join us for refreshments from 10am to 12 noon and we welcome all donations of cakes, both homemade or shop bought, we will be providing refreshments for you to purchase to raise funds for this fantastic charity. We look forward to seeing you there.
Library/ Homework Club
The library is open every lunchtime and after school from 3-4pm for students wishing to complete any homework or to simply have a quiet area to read – there are hundreds of books to choose from! A member of staff is always at hand to assist the students. Additionally, there are numerous resources available, including laptops/tablets to aid their learning.
Mrs Ward’s creative work of the week is awarded to Lillie-Mae in Year 7 for her amazing tonal drawing of a tiger.
The quality of this piece of work is GCSE standard already. Keep up the amazing work Lillie Mae!
Congratulations to the Year 10 Drama GCSE Group who performed their Blood Brothers scripted performances on Monday. They have worked for months on research, rehearsal and improvements before the final performance and have shown great team spirit by supporting each other throughout the project. Well done 10C, Miss Cassidy is bowled over by your enthusiasm, keep it up!
We have a target of 95% attendance and work hard every day to beat this. The whole school attendance for week ending 7th September 2018 was 96.2%.
Congratulations to 7JF, 7CS, 7GN and 8AWI for achieving 100% attendance.
Parent/Carer Parent Evening dates
The yearly parent/carers evenings will be taking place on the following dates between 4-7pm. The booking system will open 2 weeks prior to each date and will close the day before. You will be notified nearer the time via groupcall with details of how you can book your appointments.
