Dear Parents and Carers

I am delighted to introduce myself as the new Headteacher at Stanley High School from today, it is a privilege to be joining the school community and leading the school in the next stages of improvement.  My priority as Headteacher is to ensure that Stanley High becomes an excellent school and over this first half term I will endeavour to get to know the students, staff and school community, to ensure we are able to meet the needs of all our students and ensure they achieve their full potential in all aspects of their academic and personal development.

As you will be aware, following the recent OFSTED inspection, we have been issued with an academisation order from the Department for Education.  This process will involve the school converting to an academy and will be sponsored by Greenbank High.  I have initially been seconded from Greenbank to oversee the process of school improvement and will continue to work with Mr I Raikes, Headteacher at Greenbank and the Governing Body to ensure the highest outcomes for students here at Stanley. The local authority are in full support of this move and we have started a period of due diligence towards academisation.  As a father of two, I am very much aware of the responsibilities that my staff and I have to provide the highest standards of education for all students here at Stanley and over the coming months through the academisation process, the key focus of all staff and myself here at Stanley will be to ensure all students have the opportunities to achieve their full potential.

Since my appointment, I have visited the school on several occasions to meet with Mr Fitzpatrick, students and staff; I would like to thank Mr Fitzpatrick for his support in ensuring the transition has been as smooth as possible.  As you will be aware Mr Fitzpatrick will be continuing to provide support until Christmas.

The students and staff have made me feel welcome and I spoke to all students prior to the half term break to outline my high expectations and to communicate the standards we expect here at Stanley.  A copy of the presentation can be found at https://stanleyhigh.co.uk/stanley-welcomes-new-headteacher.  I also attach a copy of the student dress code/uniform, which I expect all students to adhere to and ask parents to support the school in maintaining these high standards.

I believe that developing effective working partnerships with parents is key for children to find school a positive and rewarding experience.  I strongly believe achievement and enjoyment go hand in hand, to ensure each child can make excellent progress.  I hope you will support our high expectations in all areas, especially in behaviour and achievement.  Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any queries, concerns or there is anything I can do to help and support you with your child’s learning and school life.

I would like to thank you personally for your continued commitment and support towards the staff and students at Stanley High School.

Yours sincerely

Mr N Moore
Headteacher
