Headteacher’s update

Good afternoon Stanley families

What a wonderful term we have had.  We feel so privileged to be a part of the lives of the children that attend our school.

Being a teenager is tough, having a teen in the home is tough, having hundreds in one building and educating them can be tough but actually watching them grow and meet challenges and feel successful is awesome.

This half term we have been on a recruitment mission and have recruited 6 new full time members of Teaching staff to join u

s from September, some slightly earlier.  Whilst we cannot prevent some staff absence, we do always strive to have the best practitioners in the classroom and address this if that is not the case.  What has been exciting is the number of professionals who want to work in our school.  This in turn allows us to employ great adults for your children to learn from.

As I put together the final assembly for this term it is apparent how many additional opportunities students have in school.  Please take time over the break to see what your child has been involved in so far this year, how they enjoyed it and what they gained from it.  It may be careers, trips, extra-curricular, leadership opportunities or hearing from guest speakers that they have enjoyed.  School continues to be a place for more than 5 hours of learning and whilst these are absolutely vital for students to feel challenged and successful academically, we also place a huge emphasis on the personal development of the child.

A number of our Year 11 students will be studying hard over the break in school and outside of school. We wish them all the luck in the world as they have the final huge push for their up and coming examinations – we do hope they squeeze in plenty of breaks and rest, but have a clear focus and dedication to their academic success.

I want to wish you a restful spring break – even if this is just a break from the morning routine.
